Chesapeake Bay Fly and Light Tackle Fishing Charters

Terrapin Bay Fishing specializes in fly and light tackle fishing charters on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.  In the spring we will fish the catch and release season on the Susquehanna Flats at the headwaters of the Bay out of Havre de Grace.  Later in the spring/early summer, we will launch out of Kent Island and concentrate on Eastern Bay and the Chester River.  In the heat of late summer the fishing will turn to the mainstem of the Bay as menhaden, anchovies and rockfish head for deeper, cooler water.  From September until the rockfish head south for the winter, we will concentrate on breaking fish as they fatten up for winter.  Finally during December we will fish the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT) at the mouth of the Bay and take advantage of the amazing fishery that sets up as the migratory fish return from New England.

All equipment and licenses are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own rods and flies/lures if you’d like.  Bring a camera, plenty of food and drink, sunscreen, and the appropriate clothing for the weather.  Remember it can be much cooler on the water than at your house, especially in the fall and spring.  Catch and release is encouraged, but you are welcome to keep fish within the recreational fishing regulations.  If you do want to take fish home, remember to bring a cooler and ice.  Fish can also be kept in the livewell during the trip, then transferred to your cooler at the end of the day.

Chesapeake Bay Fly and Light Tackle Fishing Boat

The 23-foot Parker Special Edition center console is powered by a 150-HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboard and equipped with a T-Top and enclosure.  The Special Edition series have a modified v-hull and minimal draft to allow access to shallow flats and shorelines, while the wide flare on the bow ensures a comfortable, safe ride in the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay.  The fishing area is wide open with minimal clutter for tangle free fly casting and plenty of room to fight big fish.  The boat is also equipped with a livewell and a Raymarine GPS chart plotter/depth sounder.
