Shore Tackle Update 09/29/09

Folks are continuing to have good luck trolling for Rockfish.  However, most folks have put away the surgical hoses and switched over to spoons.  The Bay Anchovies have taken over as the predominant bait fish and Tony Acetta Pet Spoons, sizes 13 and 15 are working well trolled along the bottom.  The Tony 15s seem to be a little hotter than the 13s – this week.

The Chester River has been productive as well as the mouth of the Choptank.  If previous patterns repeat, the mouth of the Choptank should get even hotter - between markers 2 and 9.

Working the shallows is another option.  Good fish in the 20” to 25” range are grazing on crabs.   Some folks are working the shallows with spoons.  Some are using baits.

Live lining looks to have run its course for the year – the blood worm sales have started to dry up.

The temps are sitting around 72 degrees right now.  Once the temperatures drop below 68 degrees, we’ll start to see a lot of activity at the mouths of the local rivers as the bait fish start moving.
