Shore Tackle Update 11/07/09
There are still some folks jigging and casting poppers in the shallows, particularly in the mornings and evening, but most of the excitement this week was had by the folks that have made the move to trolling. Water temps have dropped into the mid 50s now. The Eastern Bay has slowed significantly, but the Mid Bay has been very productive. The mouth of the Choptank had been red hot the whole way up to the Cambridge Bridge.
The West Side of the Main Bay little further south down to Herring Bay has been producing as well. Good reports have come from those working the channel edge, the whole way out to 60 foot water. The larger fish have been found deeper in the channels. Don’t be afraid to drop the lures down 30 foot or more. The majority of the deeper fish have been in the 30 inch range – the largest report of the week was a 39”.
We are back into the Umbrella Rigs and Tandems now. This week, the umbrellas rigs seemed to be the lure of choice.
