Bill O’Brien, owner of Shore Tackle & Custom Rods in Grasonville, is selective about the products he carries. That’s because his customers are just as selective when it comes to the rods and tackle they’re using to catch fish in and around the Chesapeake Bay and off the Atlantic Coast.

“Impress me” was what Vernon Myers of Severn, Maryland said to custom rod builder Bill O’Brien after making his 45 mile trip to Shore Tackle & Custom Rods in Grasonville. He’d heard of O’Brien’s reputation from a fishing buddy and wanted highquality equipment to take on family fishing retreats aboard “Fishin’ Mission,” his new 26’6” Sailfish center console.

If you are a fisherman, the expression, “You need a rod for every type of fish” is music to your ears. Bill O’Brien hopes patrons of his new business, Shore Tackle and Custom Rods in Grasonville, will agree and visit his shop at Grasonville Station to purchase custom-built fishing rods and tackle specific to the Chesapeake Bay region.
